Since 2009 Bruch Brown Consulting offers specialised Human Resources Recruitment Consulting services for the Retirement Village, Aged Care and general Health sectors across Australia.
From 2003 I have been engaged directly in the retirement village and aged care sectors, having held senior human resources management positions with two of Australia's largest and leading ASX listed Retirement Village and Aged Care operators. This is my point of difference, I know the Industry from an operators perspective. This allows for the creation of highly customised and business specific solutions that reflects your needs and aspirations.
Whether it be assistance with staffing solutions, employee relations advice and support, OH&S audits or helping you attract the right person to join your organisation, Bruch Brown Consulting can assist.
The Retirement Village sector is poised for an exciting future. Critical to that success is finding and supporting the right people to drive your business forward. Great businesses succeed by having great people. Getting then to come and work for you, then helping them thrive is where Bruch Brown Consulting can help you.
My primary focus is finding and working with great candidates, it is only then do I liaise with clients. While there is at times a need to place adverts on SEEK or somewhere similar, they best type of service that we can provide to clients is to have access to a great range of well credentialed candidates who are ready to make a change. I am to achieve this by spending the time building a sustaining meaningful relationships with an outstanding range of candidates.
As we near the end on 2011 and with Christmas upon us it may be time to look back on the past 12 months and what I think may lay ahead for 2012.
This year I have witnessed steady growth in employment opportunities particularly at the Village Manager level. On the other hand Village sales related roles have been virtually non existent across all areas. I put this down to the usual turn over of managers due to retirement or moving on to other roles. It is true that some operators have restructured their operating divisions and this has seen some leave the industry. Sales have up until mid year been quite strong so sales staff have been doing well, hence little movement. However in recent months sales appear to have really slowed, making sales staff a little concerned over what earning potential they may have for 2012.
I see 2012 as being a challenge, with the lack of new Villages being developed restricting employment opportunities. I also see some of the larger providers looking outside the industry when searching for new talent. There seems to be a feeling that the talent pool needs a little freshening up. I will let others be the judge of that. There will continue to be attrition for natural reasons meaning there will always be opportunities for talented people to join the sector or for experienced professionals to achieve their next challenge.
Salaries remain fairly stagnant as operators continue to strive to achieve cost control. CPI increases or slightly above seems to be the norm. The danger here is that good staff will consider leaving the sector if salaries do not keep pace with other sectors in the health and property related fields. Its a delicate balancing act that must be very strategically managed with an eye on the medium term not just the short!
For Bruch Brown Consulting I see another successful year coming up. I am very optimistic that employment opportunities will steadily improve as the Retirement and Aged care sectors grow to meet the needs of our ageing population. I will be looking to expanding into some new areas and are hopeful that I too can offer some employment opportunities within my business over the next 6 months.
To all my wonderful clients and outstanding candidates I gratefully say thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement - without you what I strive to do would not be possible.
Have a wonderful Christmas and most relaxing new year and I look forward to speaking with you all throughout 2012.
